Painted vintage coffee table.


Painted furniture, tole painting, and object painting have long been considered artisan crafts. In our case, we use vintage and unpainted furniture as a canvas, to produce works of functional art. Sadly, all the entries into the artisan craft category get moved to scraps. Therefore, we place our work in the next best appropriate gallery.

Yes. Every piece I put into artisan crafts gets moved into scraps. Very insulting, considering this how we make our living, or that we attend juried artisan craft shows, or have our work sold in Niche-Award winning galleries. :-(

I've gotten that kind of resistance before, and always from those who either don't know what they are looking at, or who do and are a bit jealous or snippety. If it were worth it, I'd file a grievance/complaint, but it's not. So I won't. :-)

We have used acrylics, latex, enamel, epoxy, and oil, depending on the project. ;-)

once i've painted on a wood-chest too, i used gesso and oil paints.. it was fun. :)
